Steve Rowell joined Thames Valley Police in June 2009 as Assistant Chief Constable (Local Policing). He joined Thames Valley from West Midlands Police where he held the position of Acting Assistant Chief Constable (Operations).

Steve has almost 28 years of police service. At West Midlands Police, he carried out a number of operational roles in uniform and as a detective up to the rank of Detective Chief Inspector. He became Superintendent, Operations Manager at Dudley South and was later promoted to Chief Superintendent at Stechford police station.

Steve led for West Midlands Police in improving inter-agency practices around people suffering mental illness. He is a qualified and experienced firearms, public order and sporting events commander.

Steve is married with two sons.
