The Major Crime Unit is responsible for the investigation of the most serious of crimes including murder, manslaughter and rape.
It operates from sites across the Thames Valley Police area.
The Major Crime Investigation Team consists of detective officers and members of police staff. The officers have specific training in a number of areas including family liaison, intelligence, and witness and suspect interviewing.
The police staff perform a variety of roles including data inputting onto HOLMES 2 (the major enquiry computer system), case investigators, analysts, exhibit handling, and administrative support.
