Your right to information
Anyone who makes a request for information has the right to be told if the information exists and the right to receive the information, subject to certain exemptions.
The Freedom of Information Act does give some exemptions to this right of access and puts a number of obligations on Thames Valley Police and other public organisations, about the way they provide information.
Under the Freedom of Information Act, information about another person, “a third party”, will not be given because it is exempt. This is because under the Data Protection Act the “third party” has rights over their personal information.
