The Unit’s aircraft are fitted with specialist role equipment which allows the crew to assist across the whole spectrum of police operations and beyond.

This ranges from life threatening incidents to intelligence-led tasks, such as regular patrolling of crime hotspots. The aircraft equipment includes:

Thermal imager/video camera.
Sky-Shout public address system.
Tracker system.
Microwave downlink (‘heli-tele’).
Nitesun.
Communications systems.

Other equipment in the aircraft includes a bespoke stretcher installation, stills cameras for taking aerial photographs (both pre and post incident), stabilised binoculars, a trauma pack, defibrillator and river rescue equipment.
