Skyshout public address system
Located and recessed on the underside of both aircraft is a 700 Watt loudspeaker system, known as 'Skyshout'.
This public address system is incorporated into the main radio console within the aircraft. In simple terms, it allows the helicopter crew to broadcast important information or instructions to people on the ground, for example during missing person searches or floods, without having to land.
There is also a built-in police siren to attract the attention of people or offenders. On occasions, the 'Skyshout' has been used to contact offenders and verbally direct them until ground units have been able to make an arrest.
