Christian Police Association
The Thames Valley Christian Police Association (CPA) aims to provide prayer, encouragement and fellowship opportunities for all staff, regardless of their diversity.
Membership is open to all staff in the police service, their spouses, and retired staff that recognise the Christian faith. It is also available to people who wish to support the CPA as associate members. Membership is free.
The CPA offers great encouragement to people who wish to explore the Christian faith, and to staff who are just starting on their journey of faith.
The CPA aims to:
- Seek opportunities for staff to share their faith together.
- Offer prayer support to people who request it.
- Support the Thames Valley Police multi-faith chaplaincy.
- Increase communication with CPA membership and Thames Valley Police staff.
- Provide mentoring and pastoral support with a Christian emphasis for all staff who requests this.
- Assist in recruiting and retaining new and existing staff.
- Support the ‘Adopt-a-Cop’ project.
- Build bridges with the diverse faith communities that Thames Valley Police serves.
Thames Valley CPA is affiliated to the national Christian Police Association and is supported by Thames Valley Police.
The CPA is the oldest police association in the world and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2008. The Thames Valley branch of the CPA was one of the first CPA branches to be given official support status outside of the Metropolitan Police Service.
