Gay Police Association
The Thames Valley Gay Police Association (GPA) aims to provide a local staff support network for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, and non-gay members of Thames Valley Police.
Membership of Thames Valley GPA is open to serving members and volunteers of Thames Valley Police. There are two types of membership – full and associate – and membership is free.
What Thames Valley GPA offers gay members of staff
- Information, options and confidential support – during the ‘coming out’ process, for example.
- A regular newsletter.
- A chance to make sure that your voice is heard.
- Regular local drop-in social events to assist networking and to remove feelings of isolation.
What Thames Valley GPA offers non-gay members of staff
- Confidential advice and support.
- Information to help you to support colleagues – during their ‘coming out’ process, for instance.
- Consultation to assist you in dealing with times of inappropriate behaviour towards gay colleagues.
- Help to deal with welfare situations.
Thames Valley GPA is affiliated to the national GPA and is supported by Thames Valley Police. It is run by an elected committee and is governed by its own constitution.
