Age

Age is one of our ‘six strands of diversity’.

The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations were introduced in October 2006 to protect workers from age discrimination.

The regulations make it illegal for employers to discriminate against employees, trainees or job seekers because of their age. They cover recruitment, promotion, development and termination by redundancy, dismissal or retirement, and pay to people of all ages.

The regulations also aim to make sure that all workers – regardless of their age – have the same rights in terms of training and promotion.
