Diversity Board and Executive Group

Our commitment to diversity in the workplace is led and monitored by the Force Diversity, Confidence and Equality Board (Diversity Board).

The Diversity Board is chaired by the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police. It is supported by a Diversity Executive Group.

Diversity Executive Group

The Diversity Executive Group aims to drive the work of the Diversity Board and links to local Diversity Boards.

The Group aims to:

  • Drive action in pursuit of the aims of the Force Diversity Strategy.
  • Create and maintain a Diversity Action Plan. This includes new legislation and recommendations made by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC), Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), and other diversity best practice.
  • Ensure progress on all matters of diversity.
  • Review data in the diversity monitoring booklet.
  • Report achievements and issues to the Diversity Board.
  • Identify agenda items for the Diversity Board.

Diversity advisers

Diversity advisers provide a confidential and essential service to Thames Valley Police staff by acting as a signpost to other agencies and support.

They are volunteers from across the Force and have day jobs in police officer or police staff roles.

Jay Andrews, staff support networks coordinator, said: “A diversity adviser can be used in any situation where a member of staff has suffered a detriment in the workplace.

“For example, if a member of staff has an issue with management style or unfavourable treatment, a diversity adviser can help them by listening and offering guidance on how to resolve the issue.”
