Traffic wardens
Traffic wardens are uniformed staff employed by police forces that make sure that traffic, motoring and parking regulations are followed.
They do not have full police powers, but have the authority to report traffic offences and to issue fixed penalty notices. In many areas, parking attendants employed by local authorities – and not the police – have taken on the role of enforcing parking regulations.
Traffic wardens:
- Wear epaulettes with their shoulder number and the text ‘traffic warden’.
Please direct enquiries about parking attendants to the local authority that employs them.
