Alcohol and licensing
Licensees’ support pack
A licensees’ support pack has been produced as part of the Know Your Limits campaign.
It contains material to help licensed premises explain the law on alcohol sales to their staff and to customers who they may refuse to serve alcohol to or request age identification from.
The pack was produced by Thames Valley Police, Hampshire Constabulary, NHS South Central and the Drinkaware Trust. It includes information on:
- Underage alcohol sales operations.
- Alcohol refusals log.
- Violent Crime Reduction Act fact sheet.

Door supervisors
The use of door supervisors at licensed premises is regulated by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) (opens new window).
Any person controlling access on the door of licensed premises must now be registered with the SIA and will hold a door badge with photo identification. It is an offence not to wear the badge prominently, or to deface it.
The use of unregistered door staff should be reported to the SIA in the first instance.
Polycarbonate glassware
Thames Valley Police is asking license holders to consider the benefits of using polycarbonate glassware in their premises.
Using this type of glassware gives licensees the opportunity to save lives and prevent serious injury.
Thames Valley Police, Hampshire Constabulary, NHS South Central and the Drinkaware Trust have produced a document on the introduction of polycarbonate glassware in licensed premises.
