Force CID
[image: Chief Superintendent Andrew Murray] Force CID is led by Chief Superintendent Andrew Murray, and includes:
- Force Crime Investigation - responsible for crime investigations as set out in the Crime Continuum. Officers and staff are based on LPAs and aligned to one of the three ‘hubs’ in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire or Oxfordshire.
- Major Crime Unit - dealing with the most serious and complex investigations.
- Major Crime Investigation Review Team.
- Protecting Vulnerable People - responsible for investigations into child abuse, domestic abuse, vulnerable adults, missing people and the management of violent and sexual offenders.
- Forensic Investigation Unit - responsible for the delivery of forensic services to the Force, including scenes of crime, fingerprints, footwear, audio visual, imaging and high tech crime.
- Crime and PVP strategy - responsible for developing and maintaining standards of investigation and crime management, including crime policy.
Chief Superintendent Andrew Murray.graduated from Manchester University with a BA (Hons) in Politics and Economics and joined the Metropolitan Police in 1984. He spent ten years working in north London police stations mostly as a detective and transferred to Thames Valley in 1995. Andrew has enjoyed both uniform and detective supervisory roles mostly in Oxfordshire and spent some time as Senior Investigating Officer responsible for animal rights investigations for the Force.
Prior to becoming the Head of CID, Andrew was the Local Police Area commander for South Oxfordshire and then Oxford City, before he took the role of Head of Professional Standards.
