There was a drop of nearly 40 per cent in the crime rate during this year’s Reading Festival, which took place over August bank holiday weekend.

Since our last update this morning we have had a further three crimes reported, the total now stands at 53 compared with 141 this time last year.

Overnight, offences reported at Reading Festival have gone up to 50, compared with 120 at this time last year.

Since the last update there have been seven more crimes reported from the festival site, the total number of crimes reported now stands at 31.

Thames Valley Police are pleased to report a 68 per cent reduction in crime at this year’s festival compared to this time last year.

Further to the first crime update issued this morning, where it was found that 17 crimes were reported, a few of these have now been found to be non crime incidents.
