Local priorities

The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:

1. Traffic related issues - Speeding is still an issue in Aylesbury West despite numerous operations held by the Roads Policing Team. The roads identified as a priority are Bicester Road, Buckingham Road, Arncott Way and Coldharbour.  There will be ongoing speed enforcement operations and we will continue to work with the local council, using a speed indicator device (SID). In addition to this, we will provide road safety talks to schools and work to involve students in our road safety campaigns.  Neighborhood officers will also continue to monitor and deal with the issues relating to parking at the beginning and end of the school day with focus on Keen Close, Queensgate, Weedon Road and Belgrave Road.
2. Regeneration - A number of issues relating to the area at Tesco, Jackson Road have been identified. These include litter, drug use, drug dealing and environmental problems such as the lack of lighting, loose drain covers and the poor upkeep of flower beds. The Neighborhood Policing Team will be working closely with its partner agencies in order to address this priority.  Perceived drug activity has been reported to police particularly on Somerville Way, Vale House and on Haydon Hill. As it happens during various times of the day, police patrols will increase in these areas so any potential issues can be monitored and dealt with.
3. Vehicle Crime/Burglary - Burglary and vehicle crime has been identified as a priority profile as it reflects the concern of residents, particularly during the winter months.  Fairford Leys has recently experienced an increase in theft from vehicles and the team will increase patrol and work with residents, highlighting the huge importance of keeping their cars clear of any valuables. In relation to burglary, crime figure analysis has identified several residential areas as “hot spots”. The team will focus on these roads through increased patrol and by offering residents crime prevention advice.

These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
