Local priorities

The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:

1. Traffic Related Issues – Roads that have been identified as a priority are Bicester Road, Buckingham Road, Arncott Way and Coldharbour.  There have been 2 speed enforcement operations and we will continue to work with the local council, using a Speed Indicator Device (SID).  We now have a designated traffic officer for the area and more speed enforcement operations are being planned for targeted areas.  Neighbourhood Officers have been carrying our speed enforcement operations in strategic places which have been highlighted and will continue to carryout checks as times that have been highlighted to be an issue.

2. Drug Related Issues - Areas that have been identified as a priority are Somerville Way, Belgrave Road, Grafton Road and Mitcham Walk.  These areas will be targeted by the Neighbourhood Team and will work closely with other agencies to tackle these issues.    A number of streets have recently been particularly highlighted as having increased issues by residents and officers.  The Neighbourhood Team have carried out a plain clothes operation in the area and have dealt with a number of offenders.

3. Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) Fairford Leys – There is ongoing issues around the Community Centre, Band Stand, Parks and communal locations throughout Fairford Leys in relation to young males hanging around, being verbally abusive and intimidating.   There have been a number of calls relating to youths in the children’s play parks late at night making a lot of noise and causing ASB issues to residents.  The PCSO’s have been patrolling the parks late at night and deterring youths from congregating.

These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
