Local priorities
The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:
- Speeding. Speeding continues to be the main concern raised to us by Parish Councils and residents alike during our Have Your Say meetings and through general discussions. The Local Area Forum Speed Awareness subgroup have been working on demonstrating the Community Speedwatch system within our villages alongside volunteers who have shown an interest in using the system to monitor and deter speeding motorists. This has been carried out in Wing, Pitstone, Cheddington, Drayton Parslow, Wingrave, Ivinghoe, Stoke Hammond and Marsworth. Other parishes are still considering dates for these speedwatch events. If you would like to be involved please speak with your Parish Council.
- Cross Border Offending. High visibility patrols have been conducted across the area and we are working with the local farming communities to ensure that they are vigilant and report suspicious activity as it happens so we can catch those responsible. Operation Adjoin organised by Inspector Garside and PC Jared Levens took place on Friday 28th September 2012 aimed at identifying cross border offenders, and reducing serious acquisitive crime across the area. Our colleagues in Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire assisted in this worthwhile operation, as did representatives from Cherwell Police area, Chiltern Police area and with support from the roads policing department. There was a lot of good intelligence shared and joint patrols conducted across the rural areas. This has sent out a strong message to those offenders believing that by crossing a border they can commit crime undetected.
- Anti Social Behaviour (ASB). On the area we are fortunate enough to not have any serious anti social behavioural problems. This is not to say that it does not crop up from time to time. We understand that it can cause stress to people and we have been very pro-active in dealing with any reports. To this end we have been able to resolve any problems and make sure that they are short lived. We will be monitoring any areas subject to Anti Social Behaviour and also known areas that have been historically subject to this problem. We will use available legislation against any persons engaging in this type of behaviour and where necessary deal rigorously with any persistent offenders.
These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
