Bucklebury and Downlands neighbourhood
Local priorities - 'You said, We did'
The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:
You said: Anti-Social Behaviour involving motor vehicles
We are currently experiencing problems with 4x4's and motorbikes using various rights of way and causing damage and annoyance
We are carrying out regular patrols in all of our rural locations, particularly in the Farnborough and Bucklebury areas. Our Rural Operation using local members of the public and the Council Right of Way Team will assist us in identifying and challenge drivers of suspicious vehicles in the area.
You said: Speeding
There is a general issue with speeding in many of our rural villages
We have organised speed enforcement operations in a number of villages that have resulted in drivers being issued with speeding fines or given words of advice. We have also held a number of public consultations in order to access the impact of speeding through some villages. We will continue to look at new enforecement sites, so please contact us if you have concerns with speeding vehicles in your village.
You said: Rural Crime
You said there was an issue with rural crime on the neighbourhood
We visited a large number of rural properties and offered free security advice to prevent them becoming victims of crime. We also held a number of free Tool/Tack marking events to help ensure items are more difficult to steal. This also increases the chance of the item being returned to you if it was stolen. We also launched the West Berkshire Rural Action Group giving you a direct link to the team and the opportunity to express your views and concerns. It also provides an environment to solve issues along with our partner agencies. We are continuing with our Vulnerable Location Scheme which identifys repeat victims of crime. It also offers enhanced police patrols, security surveys and the loan of security devices when applicable.
These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
