- Superintendent Rob Povey has 27 years service in Thames Valley Police. Superintendent Povey started his career in Newbury where he also spent time on the local Criminal Investigation Department (CID), but most of his time was on front line policing and he was a trained public order officer. He was promoted to Reading as a Sergeant, spending time on patrol and also ran the Town Centre Unit. He went to Bracknell as an Inspector where he worked on response policing, neighbourhood policing, and community safety and spent three years as a Detective Inspector. On promotion he moved to Slough as a Chief Inspector in charge of operational policing, and became an accredited firearms and public order commander. He then moved to Bracknell where he was the LPA Commander before being promoted to Superintendent. On promotion he moved to Headquarters and led the Productivity Team to deliver significant savings for the Force. He later moved to Roads Policing in 2009 where he led a team that delivered significant increases in performance, and further savings for the Force. He sat on a number of national Roads Policing working groups, and was a key member of the team that delivered the funding model to maintain the use of safety cameras across the country. He then moved to his current role of Local Police Area Commander for South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse, having taken up the post in April 2011.
