Awareness day overview
The awareness day is accredited by Thames Valley Police and Skills for Security.
A Certificate of Attendance will be provided and recorded by Skills for Security for future reference. The training is also viewed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) (opens new window) as proof of continuous training and development for security personnel for the purposes of the Security Industry Passports.
The day includes:
Project Griffin overview
An introduction to the project and the role of Project Griffin trained personnel.
The terrorist threat
An overview and explanation of the terrorist threat in the UK, past and present.
Business security
An overview from Thames Valley Police’s Counter Terrorist Wing. Identifying measures to reduce risk, drawing up evacuation plans, dealing with suspect packages and understanding the component parts of an improvised explosive device (IED).
Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN)
An overview of CBRN issues: What you need to know.
Crime scene management
An introduction to managing the scene of an incident.
Cordon control
An understanding of cordon support and Project Griffin staff deployment.
The cost of the day including certification, refreshments and lunch will be £40 (inclusive of VAT). Delegates will also receive a package which includes a security guide, produced by Thames Valley Police, and a workbook reinforcing the learning points of your Project Griffin awareness day.
