Police community support officer
Police community support officers (PCSOs) are uniformed staff whose role is to support police officers in your neighbourhood.
Due to the success of recent PCSO recruitment campaigns, we are not currently recruiting PCSOs. This PCSO recruitment pause will be reviewed regularly and the Thames Valley Police website updated when the pause is lifted.
There are many diverse opportunities to work alongside police colleagues in support of Command Units in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, either on a permanent or temporary basis. These include police staff (civilian) roles, or in a volunteer capacity, for example, as a Special Constable.
Recruitment of black and minority ethnic PCSOs
It is important to Thames Valley Police that we are able to understand and support our communities effectively. Creating a workforce that is reflective of the local communities that we serve can assist us to achieve this.
Is it for me?

- Be confident, assertive and mature.
- Be sensitive and patient, but also thick-skinned.
