Man arrested in connection with 1981 murder – Windsor

Thames Valley Police has arrested a 65-year-old man in connection with the murder of a teenage girl in 1981.

The man was arrested this morning (27/11), on suspicion of murder and he has been taken into custody for questioning.

The arrest was made by officers with Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Review Team who are re-investigating the murder of 17-year-old Claire Woolterton.

A member of the public found Claire’s body on a towpath alongside Barry Avenue in Windsor, at just after 6am on Friday 28 August 1981. She had been stabbed and strangled.

At the time of her death Claire was living with her family in Yeading, West London.
