On 23rd February 2016 a major incident was declared following the partial collapse of Didcot A power station.

This tragic incident resulted in the fatality of Michael Collings and three men, Chris Huxtable, John Shaw and Ken Cresswell were left unaccounted for.

Between 31 August and 9 September 2016, the bodies of Chris Huxtable, John Shaw and Ken Cresswell were located and recovered from the site. Each man was given a Guard of Honour made up of representatives from the agencies involved in the response to the incident, along with site-owners RWE and their contractors Coleman and Company.

These included Thames Valley Police, Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).

Following the collapse, HSE and TVP launched a joint investigation into the cause of the incident under the Work Related Deaths Protocol.

Our thoughts remain with the families affected by this tragic incident and specialist officers from TVP continue to support them during this difficult time.
