Arrest made following Trading Standards raids – Oxford
Friday 20 November 2009, 4:01pm
A 40-year-old man was arrested as part of an investigation by Oxfordshire County Council's Trading Standards into alleged offences under consumer protection regulations.
Thames Valley Police assisted Trading Standards officers in executing three search warrants at addresses in Oxford yesterday morning (19/11).
Properties in Cowley Road, Bartlemas Road and Walton Road were searched. Paperwork and computers were seized for further examination.
The officers were investigating complaints about potential offences under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. The complaints, concerning a letting agency, alleged that deposits had not been returned and rents not passed on to property owners.
Oxfordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Safer and Stronger Communities Judith Heathcoat said: "This operation was part of the ongoing partnership work between our Trading Standards service and Thames Valley Police. We must now wait for further investigations to be carried out."
