Third person sentenced for Buckingham robbery

Tuesday 09 February 2010, 3:24pm

A third person has been sentenced today (9/2) at Aylesbury Crown Court for a robbery in Buckingham.

On 26 October 2009, two men and a boy approached two employees of Buckingham garden centre, took their car keys, forced one of them into the garden centre and made him open the safe. The robbers stole a large amount of cash.

The 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court on 20 January and was sentenced today to 24-months detention and training in a Young Offenders Institute.

The two men involved, Elston Lewis Clarke, aged 18, from Algernon Road, London was sentenced to three years detention in a Young Offenders Institute on 10 December 2009 and Sidi Mohammed Hauzi, aged 30, from Tring Road, Aylesbury was sentenced to four years imprisonment on 20 January. Both men pleaded guilty to the offence.

Det Con Sharon Vann, said: “Both Thames Valley Police and the courts take robbery extremely seriously. It is always dealt with by a Crown Court, where the sentences can be much higher than in a Magistrates’ Court.

“We have a very robust approach in Aylesbury to investigating robbery so offenders here run a very high risk of getting caught.

“I would say to anyone thinking about committing these types of offences to consider whether stealing a mobile phone, an iPod or cash is really worth a long stretch in prison. Victims of robbery are often left traumatised by the experience and can suffer loss of confidence and become too scared to go out. Thankfully these offences are very rare in Aylesbury but we will take a zero tolerance approach to anyone committing these crimes.”
