Sunday 14 October 2012, 10:47am

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information after a man was seriously injured in Ascot this morning (14/10).

At around 3.20am a 24-year-old man hit by a car, a Volkwagen Golf R32, as he was walking near to the Esso Garage in Ascot High Street.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a critical condition.

Four men have been arrested in suspicion of  and attempted murder and are currently in police custody.

There is a scene watch in the area and the High Street is currently closed while the police carry out their enquiries. Diversions are in place and the road is expected to be closed for several hours.

Det Insp Shearwood, leading the investigation, said: “Although we are in the early stages of the investigation we believe that the injured man was possibly involved in a previous altercation at the Club One pub with a group of other men.

“It is vital that anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the collision or the man in the club prior to this and has information to help us with our investigation, comes forward and speaks to the police.

“I would like to thank the public for their co-operation and assistance so far and urge anyone who has further information that could assist our enquiries to contact police immediately or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
