Bike registration – Oxford

Wednesday 26 March 2014, 1:48pm

Residents in Oxford are invited to a free bicycle registration event outside the Waitrose store in Old High Street, Headington.

The event will run between 11am and 1pm on tomorrow (27/3).

The North East Oxford neighbourhood policing team will be at the event offering information on cycle safety.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Jason Martin, of the North East Oxford team, said: “Having a bike security marked makes it easier for the police to identify it if it is stolen and speeds up the process for returning it to its owner.

“The registration is free but there is a silver kit available which will cost £5 and involves a unique number which is branded onto the bike frame using a acid paint. This normally cost £16 but tomorrow it will only cost £5.

“I would urge anyone who owns a cycle in the area to attend the event and have their bike registered.”

You can contact any member of the North East Oxford neighbourhood team by calling 101, the single non-emergency number for Thames Valley Police.
