Update on fatal collision – M40

Emergency services remain at the scene of a fatal collision on the M40 and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Police were called at 11.20am this morning (13/6), to reports of a collision on the southbound carriageway of the M40, just before junction 9 between a green Peugeot 406 estate and a red artic lorry.
The driver of the Peugeot, a woman in her late twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene. A young baby, believed to be only a few weeks old and in the rear of the vehicle, has been airlifted to hospital for treatment. It is not believed the baby is injured however she remains at hospital as a precaution.
Two lanes of the southbound carriageway have now been reopened however there remain lengthy tailbacks and motorists are advised to avoid the area. Many arterial routes have also been affected.
