Wednesday 09 July 2014, 1:33pm

Thames Valley Police and the community safety partnership are hosting the summer safety roadshow in West Oxfordshire this month. Burglary prevention, bogus callers, fire safety and health advice are just some of the issues being covered at the events.

The West Oxfordshire Community Safety Partnership has organised the roadshow which sees several key agencies come together to engage with residents on a number of important issues.

This year the West Oxfordshire Policing team will be accompanied by participants from West Oxfordshire District Council, Oxfordshire Trading Standards, Connexions, Young Addaction and Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue.

The roadshow will be visiting the following locations from 9.30am until midday:

  • Thursday 17 July: Carterton Co-op car park
  • Wednesday 23 July: Woodstock Market Square
  • Thursday 24 July: Witney market place outside the Corn Exchange
  • Tuesday 29 July: Eynsham Market Square
  • Wednesday 30 July: Chipping Norton outside the town hall

Insp Ollie Holland, said: “West Oxfordshire continues to be a low crime area and part of this success is due to established partnership working between public agencies. We also work with communities to reduce the fear of crime and identify very local issues. This year we will be conducting surveys to gauge residents’ opinions on services and local concerns so please let us know what you think.

“There will also be advice on a range of topics to help you protect yourself, your property and your community. Officers from the neighbourhood police teams will be offering bike security marking and there will be free giveaways such as purse bells and crime reduction leaflets.”

Cllr Mark Booty, Cabinet Member for Community Safety at West Oxfordshire District Council said: “The West Oxfordshire Community Safety Team has organised safety roadshows previously which have proven popular as residents get to meet with several agencies in one place to discuss a whole range of issues.

“The roadshow is an ideal opportunity to showcase the work that is being done in our district and I urge as many residents as possible to visit when it is in their area.”
