Unique horse rider safety poster released

Monday 18 January 2016, 10:07am

Thames Valley Police Mounted Section recently ran a competition asking for help to design a poster to encourage horse riders to wear fluorescent and high visibility clothing while out riding on darker nights.

There were lots of entries and three winners were chosen. The designs have been used together to create a bright and noticeable poster reminding riders to ride safely but also to make drivers aware of driving slowly near horses.

The winners were Hannah (6), friends Ellie(7) and Lillie (7) who worked on a joint design, and Sofia (8).

Hannah, Ellie and Lillie all visited the stables at Milton Keynes police station and got to meet the police horses and some of the riders.

The winners really enjoyed their visits and Hannah even said she would like to be a mounted police officer one day.

Lillie said she was really happy to be a winner and Ellie thought it was great.

Sofia visited Merseyside mounted section as she lives in North Wales. Sofia was very excited that she was chosen as a winner and I couldn't believe the size of the horses' hooves when she met the police horses.

This poster is available for the public to print off and display in their local area, please click here.

The Mounted Section would like to thank everyone for their entries and congratulate the winners. The combined designs  have created an original piece with the most important pieces of information being shared.
