Marston neighbourhood update
Update for December
From Pc 5901 Jon Shaw, December 09
During the month of December the team have continued to deal with the three neighbourhood priorities and have run a number of road safety operations in relation to Parking.
- Speeding & Parking: - We have conducted a number of road safety operations in the Marston area over the last month. I have issued five motorists with £60 tickets and three points on there license for driving whilst on a mobile phone and the PCSOs have issued approximately 15 tickets for causing obstructions with bad parking. The proposed parking restrictions for Raymund Road and Arlington Drive have now been sent to the County Council for the next stage of planning. I hope to be able to give a further update in the new year
- Litter and Dog Fouling: - We have continued with our high visibility patrols around the parks to deter people from allowing dogs to foul and not pick it up. All the dog walkers spoken to have been prepared and have had bags with them. The litter problem around the shops in Salford Road, Cherwell Drive and Westland’s Drive has continued to reduce; this is due to the reduced amount of young people gathering in the areas and also the cold dark evenings. The PCSOs continue to patrol around the shops as part of their patrol plan and deal with any offenders if they see litter being dropped.
- Anti-Social Behaviour: - During the last week we had the normal influx of calls relating to young people throwing snowballs, the PCSOs have been speaking with the young people and giving advice about the dangers of throwing snowballs at vehicles. There has also been an increase in calls of anti-social behaviour from residents of Maltfield Road. This has coincided with some new residents arriving at the Children’s Home. We have reviewed the reports and are conducting extra high visibility patrols around the estate. We have stop checked a number of young people in the area and have been returning them home and explaining to parents what the problems are. One of them has been warned about his behaviour and will be issued with an Acceptable Behaviour Contract (ABC) if his behaviour does not improve over the Christmas holidays.
Community information: - Crime Reduction Advice: When putting out the rubbish after Christmas, make sure that the boxes are all flattened down so not to advertise all those shiny new electrical items you have been given over Christmas.
The team is still able to come round and security mark items received over the Christmas period, we can also drop off a security pen for you to mark your own items. If you would like us to pop round to security mark any items for you please contact us on: marstonnorthway@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk or through the non emergency number below.
