Speed Awareness Scheme
The Thames Valley Speed Awareness Scheme aims to reduce the speed at which drivers travel by encouraging them to alter their attitude towards speed.
Drivers who have committed a speeding offence in Thames Valley can opt to participate in the Speed Awareness Scheme - instead of a fine and penalty points on their driving licence. The Speed Awareness Scheme is managed and run by Drive Tech (UK) plc and supported by Thames Valley Police and the Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership.
To attend a Speed Awareness Scheme course, the following criteria must be met:
- You must have received a letter from Thames Valley Police inviting you to take part in the Speed Awareness Scheme.
- You must book and pay for your course/workshop within 21 days of first communication from Thames Valley Police.
- You must bring your driving licence and may need a chequebook.
- You must meet all of the terms and conditions. View the scheme's terms and conditions (opens new window).
The Speed Awareness Scheme aims to:
- Encourage drivers to use speed safely, within maximum speed limits at all times.
- Motivate drivers to look at speed limits.
- Highlight the dangers of speeding.
