Young Driver Scheme
The Thames Valley Young Driver Scheme (YDS) aims to enable young drivers to gain a better understanding of the dangers and potential consequences of their driving decisions.
The YDS is a road safety initiative by Thames Valley Police and the Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership, managed and delivered by Drive Tech (UK) plc in collaboration with a2om Limited.
To attend a YDS course, the following criteria must be met:
- You must be over 17 and under 25 years old on the date of the alleged offence.
- You must have received a letter from the police inviting you to take part in YDS.
- You will need to use a computer with internet access.
- You will need to fill in an online questionnaire before you book your place.
- You must book and pay for your place and e-learning modules within 21 days of first communication from Drive Tech YDS. Book online at the Drive Tech YDS website (opens new window).
- You must bring some official photographic identification. For example, a passport or driving licence photo card.
- You must complete a set of a2om e-learning modules within 28 days of successfully attending your workshop.
- You will be asked to complete a post-workshop questionnaire.

The YDS aims to:
- Encourage young drivers to reflect on their driving.
- Help young drivers to make better informed driving decisions.
- Provide new ideas and approaches for dealing with different driving situations.
