Abbey / Barton neighbourhood
Local priorities
The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:
- Anti-social behaviour. Although anti-social incidents have decreased the following areas are still being monitored; Albert Park, The Abbey, Peachcroft Park and Grebe Close.
- Violence against the person. This involves patrols and checks of licensed premises to prevent and deter any offences occurring.
- Parking Issues on Wilsham Road & School Cycle Safety: The NAG is currently looking at two small but important issues around the town. Parking on Wilsham Road during the day by people working in town has always been an issue but certain people seem to be getting more and more antisocial in their parking, particularly near the junctions – the NAG with police support will be monitoring this situation and dealing with motorists who cause problems as appropriate. Also, the NAG will be addressing the ever-present issue of Cycle Safety amongst school children in the town, with both the NAG and Neighbourhood Police teams speaking to schools as the weather improves.
These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
