Local priorities
The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:
- Rural Crime. Due to the very isolated location of farm outbuildings throughout the Vale of White Horse, the area is being targeted for theft of plant, tools and diesel. Incidents of criminal damage.
- Seasonal Initiatives. Raves over the summer months cause damage to crops and buildings and create noise nuisance which has a major impact on the quality of life for residents. Drug taking is common at such events with people often driving under the influence and commit other offences. Hare Coursing occurs September and March. Offenders commit criminal damage and public order offences against land owners and gamekeepers.
- Anti-Social Behaviour. Incidents of anti social behaviour in Bohams Road, Blewbury, Duke of York Avenue, Milton Heights, Sainsbury, Wantage, Betjeman Park, Wantage and Old Mill Hall, Grove. Police continue to patrol the areas while engaging with offending groups.
These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
