Local priorities - 'You said, We did'
The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:
You said: Drug use
We have been notified that drug use and possible dealing have been taking place in the Grovelands and Exeter Hall areas.
We have target our patrols in these areas and have carried out stop searches where grounds have existed. No arrests have been made so far but our presence appears to be reducing any drug activity.
You said: Thefts
Particularly from handbags and bank cards in and around the Village center
We have experienced a number of incidents involving stolen bank cards and money being obtained from peoples accounts. We have highlighted this to Banks and instructed the CCTV operators to ensure cameras are trained in these locations. It is believed the offenders may have moved on now due to increased attention. The team remain vigilant to this type of crime.
You said: Parking
Parking in the Village has been raised as an issue. Particularly around local schools.
The team have been patrolling the areas of concern and have issued 30 warning notices this month. The PCSO's are regularly attending local schools at key times to maximise visibility and community interaction.
These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
