- Kate joined Thames Valley Police in 1986 beginning her career at Maidenhead. She spent five years there as a patrol officer and neighbourhood officer before specialising for the first time by joining the Child Abuse Investigation Unit at Windsor dealing with child abuse cases and the adult victims of serious sexual assaults. Kate was promoted to Sergeant in 1995 spending time at Slough supervising teams including patrol, custody and the Control Room. Kate returned to the Child Abuse Investigation Unit this time at Marlow as a Detective Sergeant in 2001 and worked over most of Buckinghamshire before further promotion in 2003 and a return to Slough as Patrol Inspector. Kate went on to head up the Violence and Hate Crime Task Force based at Slough dealing with high risk domestic abuse and hate crime and also led the Public Protection Unit as the remit of the team widened to include vulnerable adults. Kate then spent a period of time as the Criminal Justice Inspector working closely with the courts and other partner agencies to improve confidence in the criminal justice system before being offered a secondment to the Local Policing Team at Headquarters, leading on Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership Reform. In 2008, Kate was promoted to Chief Inspector returning to Slough as the Deputy LPA Commander before moving to South Bucks as the LPA Commander in 2011.
