Buckingham South neighbourhood

Local priorities

The following priorities have been identified by the community and the police:

  1. Road safety issues. Historically, there have been issues around anti-social use of vehicles in Winslow, Steeple Claydon and Newton Longville. Whilst the reports of incidents have decreased it is still an area that we are keen to address. Speeding vehicles have also been reported regularly in Winslow, Newton Longville and Padbury, along with a number of other villages. We have committed to a series of enforcement operations with the assistance of the Road Policing Unit across the South of Buckingham area. Community Speedwatch initiatives have also been set up across the area in conjunction with our partners.
  2. Crime priorities. Over recent months there has been an increase in burglary and vehicle crimes across the South of Buckingham area. There has also been an increase in the number of break-ins to business premises and sheds across the neighbourhood. We are taking part in a crime operations specifically aimed at tackling these issues across our areas. We will target key offenders and patrol areas subjected to crime.
  3. Countryside crime. This is a concern in the neighbourhood and is something that we are monitoring closely. We have received reports about theft of saddlery - generators, diesel, horseboxes and trailers, large plant and machinery. This is a national problem not confined to Thames Valley Police only but is something that we specifically are focussed on.

These are being dealt with by your neighbourhood policing team in partnership with residents and other agencies. Progress will be reported in the Neighbourhood updates.
