Marston neighbourhood update

Update for February

During the month of January the team have started the Neighbourhood Consultation for this year. We have also conducted extra high visibility patrols around Northway following an increase in anti-social behaviour.

Speeding and parking

We have continued to tackle anti-social parking and the PCSO’s have issued approximately 5 motorists with tickets for causing obstructions.

We have continued working with the primary schools in the Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) area to tackle anti-social parking around school closing time and have been liaising with the head teachers who have been assisting us by putting updates into the monthly newsletters.

I am still awaiting an update from the County Council in relation to the proposed parking restrictions for Raymund Road and Arlington Drive and will update you with a timescale when I hear back.

Litter and dog fouling

The litter problems around Westlands Drive and Cherwell Drive have improved considerably since the start of the NAG year. We have been conducting patrols around the highlighted areas and this is part of the PCSO’s patrol plan. We have continued with our high visibility patrols around the parks to deter people from allowing dogs to foul and not pick it up. All the dog walkers spoken to have been prepared and have had bags with them and to date we have not needed to issue a fixed penalty ticket.

Anti-social behaviour

During the month we have had an increase in anti-social behaviour in the area of Maltfield Road and also Plowman Tower. We have been conducting extra patrols in the area and have identified 5 youths who may be instrumental in causing the problems. Following the identification of the youths a problem solving meeting was held with our partners at the Town Hall, and it was decided to draw up Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) which the youths will be asked to sign. I am liaising with CANNAcT with what conditions we would like to impose and they will be issued during February.

Community information

During February the team will be going door to door with the Neighbourhood Consultation Surveys. Due to the amount of houses in the NAG area we will not be able to call on everyone. To counteract this we have left a number of blank surveys at OXSRADS on Marsh Lane where you can call in anytime and fill one in.

The team are still able to come round and security mark valuable items received over the Christmas period. We can also drop off a security pen for you to mark your own items. If you would like us to pop round to security mark any items for you please contact us on: marstonnorthway@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk  or through the non emergency number below.
