The Stop Search Independent Advisory Group (SSIAG) is made up of members of the public who are independent from the police and have a special interest or expertise in the police use of stop and search.
The group meets quarterly to examine the use of stop and search powers which are exercised under Section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and Section 47 of the Firearms Act 1968.
Edited minutes of the meeting are published in the interests of transparency, as are copies of certain documents that are referred to.
