Every neighbourhood in the Thames Valley area has a dedicated neighbourhood policing team that works together with the local community and partners to: reduce crime and incidents, bring more offenders to justice, protect the vulnerable and tackle violence against women and girls and improve victim service and public confidence.
Neighbourhood policing teams are led by senior police officers and include police officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), police staff, police support volunteers and the Special Constabulary.
They aim to make communities safer through an approach that is focussed on visibility, engagement, problem solving and community resilience.
You can receive regular updates on local information and incidents in or around your area by signing up to Thames Valley Alert.
Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
Issued 28 September 2023
We continue to tackle isolated incidents of anti-social behaviour as well as more entrenched issues such as anti-social use of off-road motorbikes. This week we have seized 4 such bikes and reprimanded the riders. We have identified key areas for demand reduction and are working alongside statutory and third-sector organisations in order to tackle long-standing problems. We are committed to dealing with the issues that the community raise to us and develop a large quantity of intelligence to target areas of high threat and risk. We amend our patrol areas in line with community feedback and endeavour to use tools such as stop and search to disrupt and prosecute drug dealers. This month we have issued a number of Community Protection Warnings and Notices to some of our worst offenders.

Knife Crime
Issued 28 September 2023
We continue to target key offenders, habitual knife carriers and members of County Lines drugs gangs across the district, disrupting their behaviour and making it clear that we have a zero tolerance approach to knife enabled crime. We continue to support educational establishments in highlighting the dangers of carrying knives and the associated offences that may be being committed. We are developing intelligence in order to carry out warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act and continue to reach out to the community to share information on local offenders and those travelling into our sector to commit crime. This month we assisted in the arrest of several persons involved in a violent robbery.

Violence Against Women and Girls
Issued 28 September 2023
We continue to regularly patrol those areas of most concern to the community, particularly open spaces, parks and town centres in order to keep women and girls safe, not just at night but throughout the day. We have been working with some of our most vulnerable girls, educating, signposting and disrupting exploitative activity aimed at them. We have been engaging with local schools and colleges in order to support staff in highlighting dangerous, misogynistic behaviour as well as highlighting tell-tale signs of exploitation. We also continue to target the most harmful Domestic Abuse offenders. This week we assisted in the arrest and remand of a High Risk Domestic Abuse suspect for offences of assault, threats to kill and threatening persons with a knife
