It was with great sadness that the force announced that Police Constable James Dixon and member of the public Gladys Goodwin died following an RTC.

The collision happened in Bath Road, Wargrave in Berkshire on 5 December 2017.

We can now confirm that PC Dixon’s funeral will be held at Saint James the Less Church in Pangbourne at 11.30am on Thursday 18 January.

Pangbourne Hill will be closed on the day from about 10am until the commencement of the church service which is expected to finish at about 1.30pm.

Please be aware that there is expected to be about 500 mourners in attendance so traffic in and around the village is expected to be heavy during the morning.

There will be a park and ride service for Thames Valley Police officers and staff so hopefully this will elevate any strain on parking in the village.

A police operation will be in place on the day to minimise the impact to the local community whilst supporting the safety of the large number of mourners.

The public may see a larger than usual police presence during the day, including officers escorting the funeral cortege in a ceremonial capacity.
