Officers investigating an attempted rape and sexual assault in Reading on Sunday (6/11) have made an arrest.
A 26-year-old man from Reading was arrested yesterday (8/11) on suspicion of attempted rape and is currently in police custody.
The arrest relates to an incident in Queens Walk, Reading, in the early hours of Sunday morning between 2.30am and 3am.
A woman reported later that day to the force that she had been sexually assaulted.
Detective Inspector Laura Corscadden of Reading CID, said: “This was a serious incident which was reported to us on Sunday morning.
“Since the offence was reported, we have conducted a thorough investigation, which has led to this swift arrest.
“Although this a concerning incident, we do not believe there is a wider risk to the local community.
“However, by way of reassurance, you may see an increased presence of police officers in the area over the coming weeks in the lead up to the Christmas period.
“This presence is to provide reassurance to our communities and should you have any concerns or wish to speak to an officer, please do not hesitate to do so.”
