Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been sentenced for driving offences in Oxfordshire.
Karl Barrett, aged 36, of Old Abingdon Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to one count each of driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and fraudulent use of a registration plate at Oxford Magistrates Court on Thursday (2/3).
He was sentenced to four months and two weeks in prison and received a further driving disqualification of a year and six months.
On 17 December, last year, officers were patrolling on the A40 and Junction 8A of the M40.
A Ford Transit being driven by Barrett drove past in poor condition, officers followed Barrett who subsequently drove recklessly along the M40.
Barrett was eventually stopped and checks showed he was a disqualified driver, wasn’t insured on the vehicle and the vehicle had false plates.
Investigating officer, PC Chris Weatherley, of the Joint Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am pleased that Barrett has been sentenced to time in prison for these driving offences.
“Barratt has a significant history of driving offences, he has shown persistent disregard for the law and the sentences imposed on him.
“We will always investigate these offences thoroughly to keep the roads of the Thames Valley a safe place.”
