Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been convicted of sexual assault and intentional strangulation in Reading.
Adam Gerezgher, aged 28, of no fixed abode, has been found guilty by unanimous jury verdict of one count each of: sexual assault, intentional strangulation and committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence.
At around 1am on 8 October last year, the victim, a woman in her late teens, was walking along London Road when she was grabbed from behind by Gerezgher.
He put his arm around her neck and touched her chest inappropriately over her clothing.
The victim was able to shout for help from members of the public nearby and managed to run away from Gerezgher.
She sustained minor injuries to her neck and face.
Gerezgher was arrested on 18 October and charged on 20 October.
He is due to appear at Reading Crown Court for sentencing on 10 May.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Rachel Belsher, based at Reading police station, said: “I am pleased that Gerezgher has been convicted of these offences.
“I’d like to thank the victim for her bravery in coming forward and for her support throughout the investigation.
“I’d also like to thank the two members of the public who helped the victim, they may well have prevented this from being a more serious incident.
“Thames Valley Police take such reports seriously and will work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.”
