A further Section 60 that was enacted yesterday (12/5) has been extended.
The force has put the order in place due to intelligence that incidents of serious violence may take place and offenders may be carrying offensive weapons in public.
The order will now expire at 10am on Sunday (14/5).
A Section 60 order can only be put in place in a defined area at a specific time when a senior officer believes there is a possibility of serious violence, or weapons being carried.
The order temporarily enhances powers for officers, meaning they can stop and search anyone in the area shown on the map below.
The order will be reviewed tomorrow and a new one could be enacted after this period.
Inspector Steven Madoc-Jones, based at Slough police station, said: “We have serious concerns following a number of incidents and reports that serious violence may take place within Slough.
“This order is a preventative power which has been put in place in order to deter violence and to protect the local community.
“This will afford officers enhanced stop and search powers to identify and disrupt those individuals who wish to carry weapons and commit offences of serious violence.
“Additional police resources will be in Slough in the coming days as an additional measure to both reassure the community and disrupt instances of violence.
“If you have any questions or concerns please do approach and speak to officers.”
