A Section 60 order has today (8/9) been authorised in Carterton.
The order will cover the area shown on the map below.
Inspector Matt Fishwick said: “We’ve put this section 60 order in place for a period of 24 hours from 4pm today, after we received information that violence may occur in the area.
“This order will give our officers extra stop and search powers and is designed to prevent incidents or outbreaks of violence.
“As such, there will be an increased police presence in the area. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to approach our officers.
“If you are stopped by an officer, please do not be worried as this does not mean that you are in trouble.
“You will see more police officers in the area while the order is in place and we expect to carry out more stop and searches than usual.
“Officers who are out and about are there to reassure you as well as using their powers under Section 60 so please do stop and speak with them about any concerns that you have.”
