Thames Valley Police is appealing for information in connection with an aggravated burglary in Reading.
The offenders broke into a property in Halls Road at about 3.50am today (22/12).
There were three occupants inside the home at the time: a man, woman and child.
The offenders attacked the man, who was treated at hospital for a head injury but has since been discharged from hospital.
The occupants called Thames Valley Police while the offenders were inside their address.
Police officers arrived at the scene and the offenders made off in light-coloured BMW vehicle.
Following a short pursuit which ended in Portland Gardens a number of arrests were made.
Three men, two aged 20 and 25 from Milton Keynes and one aged 28 from London, were arrested in the area. The men are currently in police custody.
Investigating officer, Detective Inspector James Jackson said: “This was an extremely frightening experience for the victims who were awoken by three offenders in their home.
“Due to the quick thinking of the victims, they called the police and our officers arrived at the scene and following a short pursuit made a number of arrests.
“Offences like this are rare and I want to reassure the public that we have made three arrests and are conducting a thorough investigation.
“We are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area, but anyone who saw or heard anything, or if you have footage then please contact the force.
“We have officers at the scene today, so you can speak to an officer at the scene, leave any information via our website or call 101, quoting investigation reference number 43240617943.”
