Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a man has been jailed for burglary and other offences in Windsor.
Daniel Greenhalgh, aged 43, of Cooper Way, Slough, was sentenced to 10 months and three weeks in prison at Reading Crown Court on Thursday (12/12).
At the same court, Greenhalgh was found guilty of one count each of burglary, theft, fraud by false representation and possession of a bladed article. The jury gave a unanimous verdict on all counts.
On Friday 26 July this year, Greenhalgh broke into a business and stole a woman’s handbag, and later used her cards to buy several items at a shop nearby.
Greenhalgh was arrested on the same day and, upon search, was found in possession of a bladed article.
Greenhalgh was also charged with thefts from a store, which relates to incidents that took place on Wednesday 7 August this year in Maidenhead.
He was charged on the same day (26/7).
Police Staff Investigator Graham Bavin said: “I am satisfied that Greenhalgh has been sentenced to a custodial sentence.
“Burglary is an invasive crime which has devastating and long-lasting effects on victims, and I hope this excellent result at court will reassure our communities that we will do act swiftly and do everything in our power to bring offenders before the courts.
“I hope this case serves as a warning to anyone who is thinking of targeting businesses and homes to burgle that we are determined to fully investigate every report and bring those responsible to justice.”
