20240116-Police_ Officer_ Recruitment_ 600X370.jpgThames Valley Police (TVP) continues to recruit Police Officers in 2024, opening doors to making a tangible difference in your community.

Whether you're a natural problem-solver, a champion for the vulnerable, or someone who thrives in fast-paced situations, TVP has a place for you.

This year sees the introduction of the new Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP), for which applications are now open.

Why become a Police Officer with TVP?

  • Be the change you want to see: Every day, TVP officers tackle complex challenges, from protecting vulnerable individuals to solving intricate crimes. You will play a vital role in keeping your community safe and secure.

  • Develop your skills and expertise: TVP invests heavily in its officers, providing comprehensive training and ongoing professional development opportunities. Hone your critical thinking, communication and decision-making skills while becoming an expert in community policing.

  • Make a real impact: Witness firsthand the positive change you bring to people's lives. From rescuing a child to mediating a conflict, your actions will leave a lasting impact on individuals and families.

  • Join a supportive team: TVP fosters a strong sense of camaraderie and collaboration. You will work alongside dedicated colleagues who share your commitment to serving the community.

  • Enjoy a competitive salary and benefits: TVP offers a competitive starting salary of £31,551 (including a £3,000 South-East living allowance), in excess of £49,044 after seven years of service (which includes £3,000 South-East allowance); along with excellent benefits and career progression opportunities.

Sounds interesting? Read on to learn more about PCEP

We are accepting applications now for PCEP, which offers a comprehensive programme of training and takes two years to complete.

This is our main entry route into policing as a Police Officer, offering the core foundation for any further career progressions in policing.

Student officers on this programme will undertake a period of initial learning at our training centres in Sulhamstead and/or Kidlington, before moving to their designated Local Command Unit (LCU) for further operational coaching and tutoring. Once you have successfully completed two-years’ probation on the PCEP you become a substantive Police Constable, able to consider a wide-range of opportunities for progression and specialism within the force.

Eligibility for PCEP includes the following:

  • English GCSE (A*-C/9-4) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification, and two A-Levels (A-E) or equivalent, or relevant professional experience.

  • Be 17 years old or over at application, over 18 years before you start. There is no upper age limit.

  • Be a British citizen or have Indefinite Leave to Remain or Pre-Settled/Settled status and no restrictions on your stay in the UK.

  • Have been a UK resident for the last three years.

Full eligibility criteria is available in the application form.

Ready to take the next step?

Visit our Police Officer page today to apply and learn more about PCEP, our other entry routes into policing and benefits.

Do not miss out on this incredible opportunity to help protect our communities.

We look forward to welcoming you to the TVP team.
