Thames Valley Police is delighted to announce this evening (14/6) that a former Police Sergeant has received a King’s Police Medal as part of the King’s Birthday Honours List 2024.
Nicholas Reuter, who joined Thames Valley Police back in 1993, was the lead planner for both Operation Forth Bridge, the funeral arrangements for HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, and Operation London Bridge, the funeral arrangements for Her Majesty the Queen.
He devoted 19 years of his career to preparing and enabling Thames Valley Police and the wider partnership in delivering a safe, respectful and dignified family funeral that perfectly captured the historic nature of the occasion.
“It is a great honour and a privilege to receive this award,” Nick said.
“I have been able to work on a number of royal events, such as the Royal Wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the funeral arrangements for HRH the Duke of Edinburgh and her Majesty the Queen, all of which have been a proud moment to take part in.
“This award is a reflection of not just my work, but the efforts of both the operational commanders I was working for and the team who supported me throughout these events, and I would like to give my thanks to them all.”
Thames Valley Police Chief Constable Jason Hogg said: “I am delighted to see that former Police Sergeant Nicholas Reuter has been recognised for his outstanding service to policing in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
“Nick is well regarded for all his hard work and dedicated service in managing extremely sensitive and tricky operations, and I am happy to see that this has been recognised.”
