Following an investigating by Thames Valley Police, a man has been sentenced for a series of burglaries and other offences.
Shaun Thompson, aged 37 of no fixed abode, was convicted in October after he pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, two counts of theft, one count of burglary of a non-dwelling and one count of dangerous driving, in a hearing at Reading Crown Court.
On 31 October at the same court, Thompson was sentenced to four years and eight months’ imprisonment.
At around 3.26am on 29 June last year, Thompson broke into a property in Priors Wood in Wokingham, stealing a handbag and a car.
The second incident occurred on the same day at approximately 3.48am on Carolina Place, where Thompson attempted to break into a property but fled the scene after he was chased away by the victim.
The third incident occurred on the same day at approximately 4am on Grange Farm, where Thompson has broken into a car and then drove off in it.
Following the first two incidents, police located Thompson, who abandoned two of the stolen vehicles and then proceeded to run away from the police.
Officers have then located the other stolen vehicle, which were all forensically recovered.
Thompson was arrested on 30 August this year and charged the same day.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Paul Roche, part of Bracknell and Wokingham Priority Crime Team, said: “Burglary is an offence that greatly affects our communities and can be extremely distressing for victims, and I am pleased that Thompson has been brought to justice so the victims can now have closure.
“This conviction and sentence reflects the severity and seriousness with which these offences are taken, and is a warning that these type of offences will not be tolerated.”
